Northrop Hall 7- Bowdon Killer Bee's 0

The journey...

The trip over there had been, erm, eventful. There were numerous attempts to stop & quiz the locals for directions, generally without much success (Um, we stopped OK, it was the directions bit that was.. oh fuck it, never mind). Of course the team convoy got split up (damn but I love mobile phones!!!) over & over again. (And people wonder why we meet an hour earlier than we need to for away games?!?). Some people seemed to magically find their way there without a single wrong turning, namely our keeper, Phil. It was remarked upon that Crispin had a tendancy to stop & ask directions from pairs of young girls. It was also remarked upon that this didn't seem to help us find where we were going to, but he carried on anyway. It's always gratifying to see such perserverence from a player, even after being knocked back so many times.

The car parking...

When we got there the defence was in place, with Phil & Nick West already in position, having spotted a gap and immediately taken it before the opposition filled them all. I arrived with Andy Marshall shortly after followed by Giles & Kirch and we made the most of the few remaining spaces that Northrop Hall had left us. Kirch positioned himself behind me, with Giles off to my left, but when a Northrop player moved Kirch re-assessed his positional strategy & stole the oppo's slot.

The Raffle...

Well, I wasn't expecting to win so easily, and with such little effort, but when it happened I must say it was a very pleasant surprise indeed! It's always nice to travel to away games & come back with something tangible, especially when you've snatched it from the very jaws of the opposition! Muhahahahaha...

There was minimal effort on the part of the Bees - in fact some people didn't participate at all. For those that did, the competition was stiff. There were far more of them than of us, in fact, they had more than one team there! They were on home ground, and it was obvious that the spectators wanted a home win. The sun caused a problem, particularly for Crispin who has to change position several times.

The drinking...

There was much speculation as to the performance of our two newset and youngest players, John & Gary. In fact, there was unanimous team agreement that they had had a very easy first time out, with very little being put in front of them to challenge them in any way. When it did happen it was short & sharp - after a mere 10 seconds of frantic activity it was over (it probably seemed longer to them, but hey, who's counting? Oh yeah, I was. Badly - Heh! Heh!).. Afterwards John seemed to be having some trouble breathing and Gary was spluttering all over the place, but a good effort by the pair of them. It's probably fair to say that they can both expect more of the same in the future, so should consider training between Saturdays. Mind you, they need to monitor their training as both their Captain & Kirch ended up over-developing certain muscle groups.

The End...
