Bowdon Killer Bees 0 - Lytham 2
The time: 2.15pm
The place: top grass pitch at home
The weather: sunny, mild no wind
The pitch: good to firm
The opposition: Lytham St Annes
We had the desire, the team, the skills. All the perfect ingredients for
a win. And a win was what (unfortunately) the opposition achieved.
Looking on the brighter side (because that's where I was stood as the
sun went down) we played some really good hockey at various points in
the match. Regretfully with democracy ruling and players rolling on and
off as substitutes/umpires the shape and thrust of the team changed throughout
the match.
Two soft goals were given away. Moving on I would like to wax eloquently
about the skill of our goal scorers.............. Moving even more swiftly
on I see there will be chances next week for at least one goal to be scored.
Meantime The Doc was observed performing some very peculiar positions
on the side of the pitch. It was not what a lot of people thought, neither
was he trying witchcraft to stop the opposition from scoring but instead
just some stretching manoeuvres. Not that it helped. He still kept on
falling over when he was on the pitch.
All in all a lovely afternoon for playing hockey but the wrong result.
MUST TRY HARDER.
The Doc
