Bowdon Killer Bees 0 - Bebington 2

After a strong run of five games without defeat, the Bees were unlucky to lose this well fought match. The Bees put in another strong team performance but were unable to pull back the two goal deficit from a Bebington side which appeared to contain a few ringers.

The story of Bebington’s first goal was, well, unfortunate! Olly positioned himself superbly in defence, intercepted the cross, controlled the ball and… laid it off beautifully for Bebington who slid it past a dumbfounded Andy White and into the back of the net! Even Olly’s safe hands occasionally falter! The second goal was much more of a Bebington solo effort.

Cameos by Swithers and Jonny Grant showed the depth of talent in the Bees squad and the team’s performance clearly showed that the fitness training and practice sessions are paying off. Unfortunately, on this occasion there were few real Bowdon chances to grab back a goal. But, if we carry on putting in the same amount of effort then we should be back to winning ways next week – touch wood!

Dave Phillips

(A good effort from the team with a lot of work being put in. Thanks to James Tennant for guesting at short notice, and to Giles for giving him the opportunity... I stitched Dave up a bit by asking him to write the match report because it meant he wasn't able to mention man-of-the-match i.e. him! A fantastic work rate from Dave in the midfield helped relieve the sustained pressure from Bebo's attack, and contributed significantly towards the sporadic forays the Bees made into the other half of the pitch!

Also well done to Gary Campbell who worked well with Dave down the right to give the opposition a bit of a scare. In case anyone is wondering(!), we did make it into their dee a few times but a hawkish defence and an able keeper stopped us from making the scoresheet - Ed)
