Leigh 0 - Bowdon Killer Bees 8

Leigh were left dazed and reeling becoming another victim of the Bees fine form this season. Olly's inspirational team talks and tactical awareness once again paid dividends and leave me in no doubt that his captaincy must have been ordained by the Gods (Is that enough for the tenner, Olly?) (Yup - Finance Ed).

The first goal came from a ball struck from the left which bounced weakly of my outstretched stick to trickle into the back of the net. I managed to put a little bit more power on the next shot which went straight through the goalies legs. However, Robbie Smith showed what he was made of and .......(in spite of this!) ........proceeded to delight the crowd with a hat trick of goals combining fluid passing, great stick control, and
clinical finishing - yes, this is a Bees match report! But the goal fest continued. Yokker scored twice in a few minutes with some real pile driver shots. He had evidently been watching Olly who also made it onto the score sheet with a converted short corner. The goal scorers get the glory but of course if it wasn't for the supporting role of the rest of the team the all-round performance wouldn't have been half so impressive.

I believe that Leigh may have scored themselves in the second half by which stage they had something like 13 players on the pitch including a left back who is 80 this week! And there I was slapping myself on the back for managing to sprint past him!! The only down side to the match was Gary's forced departure to the sidelines due to what looked like a possible broken finger.

In short, another great Bees performance!

(Great match report. All of them should start like that! Good effort from everyone involved. Slowest man on the pitch? Not me, but Mr Campbell - not 'cos he didn't run all over the pitch (he did), but because he didn't get his finger out of the way quick enough & broke it! Finally we get to find out what it takes for Gary to volunteer to umpire... - Ed)
