Bebbington 2 - 2 Bowdon Killer Bees

Our first scouse run in of the season was away to Bebbington on astro. Some confusion arose as we watched the game before we went on, as the only opposition we could see around the pitch were of a size and age that meant one of two things. They were either twelve year olds that had never played before or they were the future England squad. Luckily for us it wasn't the latter!!

Bebbington also draughted in one or two of the previous game's players which were either first or second team players. This is where I believe the Killer Bees fell into mass confusion as one minute you were skinning twelve year olds and the next you were being skinned!!

The hangovers of several players also shone through with a Grant turning up already having Ginned up with his golf captain. All that said we set about in a fairly strong manner and found ourselves 2-1 up at half time.

The back three of Braithwaite/Hudson/Tennant are worth a mention I believe. A victory seemed on the cards, but for a second time an easy goal slipped through and the game ended 2-2.

The umpire is also worth a mention as he took on the duty on his own and didn't miss a trick

'Dutch' Darbyshire

('Ta' to Dave Phillips for playing in goal, looking the part, and even getting in the way of the ball sometimes! Diplomatically, Darbs has not mentioned the occassions when we were being skinned by the twelve year olds, but it definitely happened! Despite widely varying degrees of effort within the team, some decent patches of short-pass hockey, and the effective use of the back pass showed some flashes of the play that won us the first three games. No doubt under Yokker's steady eye (yes, the one that can't judge the location of the opposition's goal very accurately!) next week the Bees will back to their winning ways - Competitive strategy Ed)
