Runcorn 5 - 0 Bowdon Killer Bees

Confidence was high in the undefeated Bees camp before the trip to Runcorn following the stunning start to the season. The Bees had a new look to them since half the team was on “tour” in Barbados, and so Stickie and Nick were our designated leaders. Stickie’s first act was to “volunteer” Jon Bray for keeper duty.

The Bee’s formation was a little interesting; Carl and I were promoted to the midfield for the day, Giles played center forward and providing pace on the left wing was Tommy borrowed from Runcorn.

In some senses the game was a moral victory for the Bees, in other (more accurate) senses the Bees got battered. Runcorn brought in a star centre forward who could belt the ball from anywhere and they finally ended up putting 5 past us. Jon deserves special mention as he made some stunning saves to keep the score (almost) respectable. The Bees had collectively left their shooting boots at home, and unfortunately brought their kicking boots with them. We tried hard but were unable to put any of our chances away.
